Tomra

TOMRA SYSTEMS ASA (TOMRA) was founded on an innovation in 1972 that began with the design, manufacturing, and sale of reverse vending machines (RVMs) for the automated collection of used beverage containers. Today, TOMRA Group has ~95,000 installations in over 80 markets worldwide, including collection and sorting solutions. Our collection technology is capturing 35 billion used beverage containers every year – reducing reliance on raw materials and ensuring that fewer containers end up in landfills, oceans, and streets.

TOMRA provides sensor-based solutions for optimal resource productivity that enable our customers to obtain more, use less and reuse resources to make the planet more sustainable – better for business and the environment. TOMRA is a member of the New Plastics Economy initiative led by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which advocates for increased recycling rates. Since 2009, TOMRA is also a member of UN Global Compact.

Ambition

For more than 45 years, TOMRA has created solutions to optimize resources and tackle waste and pollution. TOMRA optimizes the collection and handling of recycled materials in a wide range of business environments. In some markets, the return rate of containers returned via our collection solutions is as high as 95%. Through our deep and longstanding knowledge of preventive solutions like deposit systems, we can and do reduce the volume of plastic waste entering our oceans.

TOMRA provides sensor-based sorting solutions to ensure the recycling of plastics and other materials discarded via household waste etc. These solutions can potentially also be used to clean up pollution that is already in the ocean when brought to land, and TOMRA can, with its knowledge and circular economy mindset, contribute to finding solutions for materials brought to land for processing/recycling.
